"If anyone had one opinion of anybody, I venture to say that it was of one opinion about me, that I was an Idler, a dawdler, a flaneur, a frivolous bird, intelligent, perhaps brilliant, witty, etc. - But as for "seriousness," I lacked it utterly. I represent a worldly irony, joie de vivre, the subtlest form of pleasure seeking- without a trace of "seriousness"; on the otherhand, I am prodigiously witty and interesting."
